U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is facing increasing pressure from his Republican colleagues as well as President Donald Trump to eliminate the filibuster in order to pass the MAGA agenda.
Calls to “nuke the filibuster” refer to a procedural maneuver to change Senate rules to require a simple majority of 51 votes instead of the usual 60 votes required to end debate on a particular measure.
