    DOJ charges 20 people over allegedly rigging college basketball games

    The Department of Justice charged 20 people for allegedly rigging college basketball games involving dozens of players.The 20 people were charged by federal prosecutors over an alleged point-shaving scheme involving basketball players on more than 17 different NCAA Division I men’s basketball teams, according to an indictment, CBS News reported. The players “fixed and attempted to fix” over 29 games, per the indictment.
    Investigators said that games involving the following teams were allegedly rigged or impacted: Western Michigan University, Butler, St. John’s, Tulane, East Carolina, McNeese State, Nicholls State, St. Louis University, Duquesne, La Salle, Fordham, SUNY Buffalo, Kent State, Ohio University, Georgetown, and DePaul.
    The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia will hold a news conference on the case at 11 a.m. ET.
