The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), an election integrity nonprofit, identified 9,766 potentially deceased active voter registrants and 1,279 apparent duplicate registrations at the same residential addresses in Los Angeles County’s voter rolls. The Foundation filed a formal complaint under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), raising concerns about local voter list maintenance practices ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
An analysis by PILF claims to have uncovered additional irregularities in Los Angeles County’s voter registration records. This includes 1,340 active registrants with fictional dates of birth, 704 active registrants whose recorded dates of birth would make them at least 110 years old, and 54 U.S. Postal Service locations listed as residential addresses by registered voters rather than as mailing addresses.
These additional findings are not alleged as separate HAVA violations but raise further concerns about the accuracy of Los Angeles County’s voter registration records, the group said.
“California has a responsibility to maintain accurate voter rolls. Election officials should investigate these discrepancies and ensure that voter registration records are accurate,” J. Christian Adams, president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, said in a statement.
