Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said on Saturday that she was denied access to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center.Omar’s post comes days after 37-year-old Renee Good was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
“I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building. Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained,” Omar wrote on X. “The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.”
Omar has said that it was wrong for the ICE agent to shoot Good while others have argued she attempted to run him over, and he was acting in self-defense.
Omar and other Democrats called for a full investigation into the incident.
