President Donald Trump signed pardons Tuesday on the stage at a rally in Alaska, which pardoned Alaskan truckers who were targeted by the Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency. The move is for Alaskan truckers that the Biden administration accused of violating the Obama-era Clean Air Act diesel regulations. One man was pardoned in July, who was convicted of modifying emissions systems on diesel engines so Alaska businesses could keep their vehicles operational in the state’s freezing climate conditions.
Trump broadened the pardons at his rally, expanding it to two other drivers who were targeted for trying to fix truck engines. The men have been identified as Zachary Czubac and Patrick Fleming.
“If you allow people to fix the engines, they take the environmental crap that makes it inefficient and expensive, undo that,” Trump said at the rally. “When you undo that, you send fumes into the air, so we put them in jail?! Well, I heard about it…I”m giving each one an unconditional pardon. That means you’re as clear as a newborn baby’s a**. Why is that so clean?”
The rally, which promoted Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan who is up for reelection, comes as the president tours the country ahead of next month’s midterm elections. He is expected to speak in Arizona, Montana and Nevada on Wednesday.
