    DHS to send 100 more CBP agents to Minnesota: report

    The Department of Homeland Security will send 100 more U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to Minnesota for the weekend, according to a news report.The New York Times obtained documents that suggested at least 100 more CBP agents were being deployed to Minnesota, after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on Wednesday fatally shot motorist Renee Nicole Good during an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis. According to DHS, Good was allegedly trying to run over ICE agents with her vehicle.
    The additional CBP agents will travel to Minnesota from Chicago and New Orleans. DHS plans to pause its operations in Chicago to support the operation in Minnesota, also according to the report.
    The deployment to Minnesota is expected to last through the weekend, with a planned return to their cities on Sunday. DHS declined to provide comment to The Times on the plans.
    DHS’s operation in Minnesota comes amid the Trump administration’s investigation into fraud allegations regarding the Somali community in the state and publicly funded programs, such as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.
