    Strength Training May Slow Brain Aging by Up to 2.3 Years, Study Finds

    A study published in GeroScience found that older adults who performed resistance training showed brain aging that was 1.4 to 2.3 years slower than a non-exercise control group over a one-year intervention, according to the report [1]. The study analyzed 309 participants from the LISA1 (Live Active Successful Aging) trial, researchers said [2].

    The findings were based on MRI-derived brain aging clock models that estimate biological brain age, according to the study [3]. Participants in both moderate and heavy resistance training groups demonstrated significant reductions in brain age compared with the control group, the report stated [4].
