Minnesota Republican Speaker of the House Lisa DeMuth warned that any Democrat in the state who secures the gubernatorial nomination will continue the policies that she said led to mass fraud in the state and prompted Gov. Tim Walz’s, D-Minn., not to seek a third term.Walz announced he would not seek reelection this week amid an ongoing scandal over welfare fraud linked to the Somali expat community in the state. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has surged to Minneapolis amid the backlash.
“It is a failure of the top leader of our state. The best step that Gov. Walz made was yesterday announcing that he wasn’t going to seek a third term,” DeMuth said on Fox News. “The important thing to recognize though, is whoever they put in, to run for governor in the state of Minnesota… has completely supported what Gov. Walz has done.”
“That’s why we need a change,” she added.
