    Iceland’s government summoned the U.S. ambassador on Tuesday, Sept. 8, after President Donald Trump posted an edited map on social media that depicted the United States absorbing Iceland, Canada, Greenland and Mexico into a single entity labeled the “United States of America.”

    The image shared on Truth Social without comment triggered immediate condemnation from Reykjavik, which characterized the post as insulting to its national sovereignty. Icelandic Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Gunnarsdottir publicly rebuked the post, with the country’s public broadcaster RUV reporting her comments according to officials.
