Venezuela opposition leader María Corina Machado said Monday that she would “love” to “personally” give President Trump her Nobel Peace Prize, three days after dictator President Nicholas Maduro was removed from power in a U.S. military raid. She was awarded the prize in October 2025 for her fight against what the Norwegian Nobel Committee called a dictatorship and dedicated it to Trump, saying, “We count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve freedom and democracy.”
Machado, who has been living in hiding under Maduro’s regime, said on the Fox News Channel on Monday night she has not spoken to Trump since the announcement that she had won the prize, according to the New York Post.
“As soon as I learned that we had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I dedicated it to Trump because I knew at that point, he deserved it,” she said. “And a lot of people, most people, said it was impossible to achieve what he has just done on Saturday, January 3rd. And so, I believe he deserved it.”
Machado said she has never previously offered to give the prize to Trump but is open to doing so.
“It hasn’t happened yet, but I would certainly love to be able to personally tell him that we, the Venezuelan people – because this is a prize of the Venezuelan people – certainly want to give it to him and share it with him,” she said.
