Carol Rosenberg of The New York Times reported that a military judge ruled that confessions made in 2007 to FBI agents by Khalid Sheikh Muhammad (KSM), the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, were inadmissible.
The United States captured KSM in 2003 and the CIA subjected him to various methods of torture. Most famously, he was waterboarded 183 times. Furthermore, he was also deprived of sleep for over a week, put in extreme stress positions, thrown against walls, endured rectal rehydration, and his torturers threatened to kill his children.
