    Morning coffee linked to healthier body composition and hormonal differences, Finnish study finds

    A Finnish study of 2,264 participants found that higher coffee consumption correlates with lower total and visceral fat, and greater muscle mass, despite similar BMIs.
    Coffee drinkers showed lower levels of branched-chain amino acids, biomarkers associated with insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes risk.
    Sex-specific hormonal patterns emerged: men with higher coffee intake had more total and bioavailable testosterone, while women showed increased sex hormone-binding globulin.
    The observational study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, cannot prove causation but offers new avenues for research.
    Finland’s high consumption rate—about 26 pounds per person annually—makes the population uniquely suited for such research.
