A cargo plane operated by K2 Airways disappeared near Karachi late Tuesday, according to flight tracking data. The aircraft reported a navigation system issue at 9:18 p.m. local time, according to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. Radar data showed the plane descending rapidly and making a sharp heading change at about 9:21 p.m., after which both radar and radio contact were lost, the authority said. The last transmitted data point placed the aircraft at 1,100 feet above sea level with a vertical rate of minus 22,400 feet per minute, a rate of descent considered extremely steep and abnormal. Tracking data indicates the plane lost approximately 35,000 feet in under two minutes.
