President Trump said Monday he had a “very good talk” with Russian President Vladimir Putin following an in-person meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but acknowledged “thorny issues” remain regarding a deal to end the Russia-Ukraine war. “We had a very good talk,” said Trump, according to The Hill newspaper. “It was a very productive talk.”
They apparently spoke Monday morning, after Trump’s meeting Sunday at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida with Zelensky.
“We have a few very thorny issues, as you can imagine,” Trump said of talk with Putin.
Among the issues key to ending the war is what captured land – if any – Russia would return to Ukraine and security agreements to Ukraine from Western allies.
