Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday stated that an agreement to end the Iran war has “never been closer,” asserting that the terms of the deal would become public eventually.”The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer,” he posted on X. “Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.”
President Donald Trump shared Arachchi’s statement on Truth Social after he previously denied reporting on the terms of the agreement.
Trump canceled planned attacks on Iran on Thursday, citing a diplomatic breakthrough. In the wake of the announcement, Iranian media released a draft of the agreement that Trump said was inauthentic.
The president has repeatedly claimed throughout the conflict that a deal was nearing completion, though each time has seen talks fail to yield a final agreement.
