    Nigeria prime minster says country’s president gave Trump ‘go ahead’ for air strikes on ISIS camps

    A Nigerian official said Friday that President Donald Trump’s air strikes in his country on Christmas Day on ISIS camps were authorized at the highest level.The official, Prime Minister Yusuf Tuggar, said he spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio prior to the strikes and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu gave the “go ahead,” according to CNN. 
    “Whoever is prepared to work with us to fight terrorism, we’re ready, willing and able,” he said about the strikes Thursday.
    Trump announced in a social media post late Thursday that he had ordered the strikes in northwest Nigeria in response to the terrorist group “killing innocent Christians.”
    U.S. Africa Command said in a news release the strikes were in the Sokoto state, which borders Niger to the north, “in coordination with Nigerian authorities.” The release also said multiple ISIS terrorists were killed in the camps.
