President Trump reportedly unloaded on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call Monday over Netanyahu’s decision to order strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut, and one of the Democratic Party’s most seasoned strategists says the president’s frustration was justified.
David Axelrod, the architect of Barack Obama’s two presidential campaigns, told CNN’s Erin Burnett on “OutFront” that Trump’s anger at Netanyahu was well-founded, even as the details of the call painted a picture of a president unwilling to let an ally freelance on the battlefield.
