Dozens of Republican lawmakers objected to the fund, and Senate Republican leaders held a $72 billion immigration enforcement bill hostage until the matter was resolved.
The DOJ said it would abide by a federal court ruling from a United States District Court judge in the Eastern District of Virginia that halted any payouts from the fund.
