Authorities in New Jersey made several arrests outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in the state after protesters violated a curfew.Delaney Hall has been the site of major anti-ICE protests in recent days and even saw Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J., enter the mix. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has condemned what he called a “political stunt” by Democrats at the facility.
The scope of Sunday evening’s arrests remains unclear, though Gov. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., confirmed that several persons in custody were agitators from out of the state, The Hill reported.
The curfew is in effect from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and state authorities confirmed that the arrests followed the demonstrators refusing numerous entreaties to leave the area.
Delaney Hall has been at the center of the anti-ICE protests in recent weeks as President Donald Trump continues with his mass deportation efforts, aiming to remove as many as 22 million people before he leaves office.
