President Donald Trump endorsed Wyoming GOP Rep. Harriet Hageman’s candidacy for the Senate on Tuesday, hours after she announced her bid to replace retiring Republican Sen. Cynthia Lummis. Lummis, who was a strong supporter of Trump, announced she would not seek reelection last week after just one term in the upper chamber.
Hageman, who was previously weighing a gubernatorial bid, highlighted her support of the president in her announcement video, including her record of supporting Trump’s policies in the House.
“I worked with President Trump to pass 46 billion in additional funding for border security, while ensuring that Wyomingites do not pay the cost of new immigration,” she said. “We work together to secure the border and fund efforts to remove and deport those in the country illegally.”
Trump also emphasized the congresswoman’s record of supporting his policies in the lower chamber in his endorsement on Truth Social.
“I know Harriet well, and she is a total winner,” Trump wrote. “Harriet has always delivered for Wyoming, and will continue to do so in the United States Senate. She will fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote made in the USA, Advance American Energy dominance, Champion our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Keep our Border secure, Stop Migrant Crime, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.
“Harriet Hageman has my complete and total endorsement to be your next senator,” he continued. “She will not let you down.”
